"Women and racial and ethnic minorities are 20% to 30% more likely than white men to experience a misdiagnosis, said Dr. David Newman-Toker, a professor of neurology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the lead author of the BMJ study. “That’s significant and inexcusable,” he said." https://www.whatimreading.net/p/women-minorities-medical-misdiagnosis?r=7106w&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

It's an unspoken fact that freely moving lab mice are not really freely moving. We came up with a method to change this. See the preprint: https://biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2023.08.30.554672v1 (1/3)
#NeuroMethods poll: which is your favourite manual #SpikeSorting (refinement) program?🧠🖥️
Polls don’t have enough options so detailed answers would be great 😃:
1: Klusters
2: Mclust
3: Offline Sorter
4: Phy
5: Spike Sort 3D
6: Tint (I didn't find a link describing the software)
7: Other
8: None (all automatised!)
(Note: I asked the same poll on the NeuroMethods SpikeSorting channel)
New paper out, & it's SO COOL!! 🤩 How different #metastasis affects 🧠 #LFP? We saw that each type have spectific signatures, so that they can be even classifed from the recordings! 😱 Thanks Alberto, Mariam, @LMPrida & Manuel Valiente for all 😊 https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1535610823002507
Do you know a teenager who likes games and might be interested in learning to code? Yesterday I visited my old maker space and met some awesome teens working on a project that will ship free game consoles to any fellow teens who code a game on their platform:
These delightful bare-bones consoles feel so accessible 😊 and I'm told they have a very active Slack and GitHub of other teens. The group I met was also entirely composed of under-represented minorities in tech 💓
