A friend of mine who's 40 years old tested + for #covid. Her doc prescribed #Paxlovid but told her not to take it unless she got worse by Sun bc of the side effects. She's looking for info re: measurable reduction of #longcovid risk with Paxlovid & any info on benefits of taking it in her cohort (bc if there's benefit or reduced LC risk she wants to take it). She did have a long term bruising reaction to vax. Can anyone point me to any studies/data to send her way to help make her decision?

@7soulshine7 She should take it immediately. Best guess from the few studies done is that it reduces Long Covid risk. There is strong mechanistic reason to believe this is right.

She may well have Paxlovid rebound; it still reduces Long covid risk

I think this is probably the safest answer, and so I thought I'd just add that the study to look into this starts in January, so there's not going to be any real hard numbers about this at this point I don't think.
