I absolutely understand where you're coming from. Earlier this year when my dad told me he was letting up on his initial COVID precautions for exactly that reason I didn't argue it with him. His reasoning was that he's lived a good life, he's beyond the average life expectancy and he had things he wanted to do.

A few weeks back he told me how much he regretted that decision. COVID didn't kill him, but it did give him brain fog so bad that his number one joy in life, reading, is beyond his mental abilities now. Him and a few of the old guys in his circle of friends are all in the same boat. They're miserable and their doctors have nothing to help them.

Whatever choices you make, just be informed and may you make it through 2023 happy and healthy.

@BE @Homoevolutis0 @augieray so sorry to hear this 😠
I had a mild case of brain fog, curcumin (clinical dose levels) helped, pretty much eliminated it. Not sure if you've tried that or heard of it. In my mum's case, 81, getting the most recent vaccine has mostly eliminated her long covid. Sorry if I'm just throwing useless info at you that you have tried or isn't applicable. Best of luck for your father and his mates.

Appreciate that! I've really tried not to give anyone I know advice on what to take as it's really not in my wheelhouse, but being that my dad's doctor isn't doing anything he's trying some things. Based on some other people's ideas he's actually starting with nattokinase and trying quercetin as well.

That tells me your dad needs a new doctor.
One who fails to treat a condition for which there are possibilities is not doing their job.

It's by far the most common outcome with doctors for people with long COVID, unfortunately. Even the specific "long COVID clinics" mostly just test at this point and don't treat. There's millions of people in the US alone having the same experience.

@BE @LadyCowParsley @Homoevolutis0 @augieray doctors are at least starting to recognise long covid and accept it's a real thing, initially suffers were treated like me/cfs suffers; as if it was all in their heads. But there's a long way to go yet.
