if anyone wonders what it’s like to be a #caregiver doing #eldercare for ones #parents

at the start of the yr, my #mother was hospitalized & caught #covid while an in-patient. my #father went to the #hospital 2-wks later, & caught covid while an in-patient. we avoided #SarsCoV2 for 3-yrs. but, half my #family was infected at the one place ppl should be able to trust & go to for help in an #emergency.

both of my parents are exp “brain fog” which should make my job more hellish. so, that’s fun

I'm so sorry for what you're going through. That must be so hard. My dad has brain fog after COVID, too, and it's gotten really quite bad. Hang in there.

The fact that hospitals are one of the most likely places to get a potentially debilitating disease is one of the largest failures of our current society. My wife's never seen idiocracy, but I often describe it to her as a movie that we used to laugh at, but became a sad documentary over time.

@BE oh… i’m sorry you know this experience, too. how’s your dad handling the brain fog? and, you… how are you handling your dad’s brain fog?

right. failure. that’s it. i keep thinking… i should file an “adverse event enquiry” request, but… i’m all funned out, and don’t have enough “gas in the tank” for any more battled related to eldercare or existing in a “covid is over” population.

@abejaclaustro

Thank you for asking. He's handling it as well as he can. He's frustrated about the idea of being unable to just sit around and read. I'm sad and mad about it all, much like you.

I know it's all exhausting. Hang in there as best you can.

@BE i hope he doesn’t get reinfected, and that the coming months bring some kind of recovery for him.

you, too.
