Just watched my wife try to hold her composure and stay positive talking on the phone to a friend who's 6 months pregnant when she said, "I just tested positive for COVID for the SECOND TIME during my pregnancy. Oh my god, so annoying!"
*sigh*
Earlier you had pointed me to a study involving hearing loss from Covid in utero.
The mechanism was unclear, but the conclusion was it’s quite a risk.
Someone I follow on Twitter connected the dots themselves, between two studies.
Mitochondrial dysfunction is a known consequence of Covid.
Hearing loss is a known consequence of mitochondrial dysfunction in newborns.
Among a whole list of other issues.
What the fuck are people doing?
@BigBadDog @BE Now I'm trying to remember what my mother said she came down with when she was carrying me, because guess which one of the kids in my family is going to go deaf first.
Crappy.
No really, everybody.
A whole lot of disease, injury, and you-know-what-for-the-capitalists, could be spared if we cleared the air.
I had to insist that my Wife stay safe while preggo during BA1.
Pulled the other kid from school too.
She still says I traumatized her.
Technically, she’s relaxed on the victim narrative.
Meanwhile the nephew with developmental delays wants to celebrate the niece with congenital hearing loss’ b-day at a bowling alley on Sunday.
My sister-in-law, the one with the mystery appendectomy is planning quite the party.
Grandpa will be there too.
The one who wound up in Sepsis.
Then had heart surgery.
At least he’s got the guts to blame it on SARS.
@BE I wonder if Long COVID can be contracted in utero, and if so what kind of consequences will come with it. Poor kid.
