On this day, 17 April 1961, a mercenary brigade armed, trained and transported by the CIA, landed at #PlayaGirón - the Bay of Pigs, as part of US plans to defeat the Cuban Revolution. Revolutionary forces, led by Fidel Castro, defeated the invasion within three days.
