There is also a large grey area in between and a balance to be found. Knowing people who have faced traumatic experiences, some method of proper trigger warning filtering could help a lot, and we will see if such a mechanism evolves.
The local server system might allow that line to be drawn at different levels for different groups. We will see.

Free speech fundamentally means "hate speech" doesn't exist. Otherwise the government can simply declare "criticism of the government is hate speech" or deliberately fill the cabinet with 'protected persons' and functionally make them immune to criticism, etc. How baffling.
