No expert but, assuming it's accidental, NATO will probably make a lot of noise, and possibly upgrade further its supply of weapons to Ukraine. There is no way they will want to go further.

@paulkleiman @chrischirp minimum ATACMS to Ukraine tomorrow. Near minimum no fly Black Sea and major part of Ukraine, and within 50 km of NATO border. Modest response wipe out entire Russian military with convential forces in Ukraine Belarus and W Russia, along with notice that 1 move and we unleash convential hell, which will disable nukes. Recall Russia has zero air superiority and is losing heavily to 1 % of NATO convential arsenal.
