There isn't a "riddle" in the science of evolutionary biology.
The "chicken and egg riddle" is folk #psychology.
The egg is the chicken and the chicken is the egg. It's merely a different stage of development.
Historically, evolution is the outcome of gradual changes over vast time scales.
I didn't read the article because of the misleading title.
The clickbait article title may attract the attention of readers and inform them about evolutionary biology....so
"Most biologists state unequivocally that the egg came first. At their most basic level, eggs are just female sex cells." https://www.livescience.com/which-came-first-the-chicken-or-the-egg
This is a great article for an intro to evolutionary biology. The Thirteen Misunderstandings
About Natural Selection https://labs.la.utexas.edu/buss/files/2018/07/13-Misunderstandings-About-Natural-Selection.pdf
.
@Empiricism_Reloaded Points well made. But you might want to read the article, Chickens aren’t the only species that lay eggs.
