I am teaching branching and forking in #git to researchers this afternoon.
Why is it called "forking"?
@HeidiSeibold If you ask me, the best way to explain "fork" to a new audience would be "fork in the road" - a common phrase without negative meanings, and makes it generally seem like a reasonable term.
