@mattblaze On My first day on Mastodon, some dude scolded me for disagreeing with someone about whether Federal Government employees should be allowed on Mastodon (I think they should be). He said I was too new and shouldn't tell anyone I disagree with them. Then he reported me.
I think this is a newly emerging type of troll that has learned to live within Mastodon, under the radar of moderators, while being extremely annoying. I'm seeing a growing number of complaints about this type of activity. It's all probably the same few people.
I hope people know enough to just ignore them
@Jerry @mattblaze my first mastodon account got banned by pdx.social because I said that Niel Degrasse Tyson was my "spirit animal". I think butthurt is just the vibe here.
@Lunatech @schizanon @Jerry @mattblaze I think some users don't realize that it's actually not that easy to change instances... I don't know if you do know it but I've seen a bunch of posts like yours that completely skip over one point that makes migration not as hassle-free as they make it sound. Posts do not get migrated:

I've actually seen some occurrences where people have been bitten by this thinking they can always just change their instance.
@schizanon @JakubKuczys @Lunatech @mattblaze Even more ridiculous. OMG
@JakubKuczys @Lunatech @schizanon @mattblaze Agreed. It would be nice if at least posts, say for the past 3 months, or up to a certain number, would transfer. I think it is probably left out because it might burden the new instance. Unsure. But yeah, big downside
@JakubKuczys @Lunatech @Jerry @mattblaze when pdx.social banned me, I actually had to go to the admin's office (his company hosted it, he advertised that, and they were close by, I'm not a psycho) before he would let me download my data.
