I'm curious -- has anyone written a twitter-algorithm-style app for mastodon? Like "3 people you follow boosted this toot", "here is something that got 50 boosts that one of your followers boosted", etc.

(please do not tell me about hashtags :))

@b0rk much as I was a strict reverse-chronological Twitter user, I do miss some kind of feed management on Mastodon. I wish I could at least collapse threads that the poster marked all as global. But other algorithms like “only x from this great person who also just posts so much that they drown out everyone else” would be welcome. Algorithms *I* control are delightful.

@cocoaphony @b0rk@social.jvns.ca I'm a strict chronological (sic! I scroll up, not down because no app offers such order) Twitter/Mastodon user however I do see value in algorithm-driven replies because I generally don't (and realistically can't) read through all replies to a post and that gives an unfair advantage to people that posted earlier. The downside is that an engagement-based algorithm can tend to put more heated debates at the top and can put you on a downward spiral.
