@drlynnchiu I discussed mastodon with a few people involved in PR around me. I was asked whether there are already metrics and tools they could use to bring the idea higher up. Is there anything you could recommend?
@JulienDelpierre I'm reading a lot about how Mastodon was intentionally designed to be "anti-metric." It's a safe space for marginalized communities that do not consent to be studied. It's also "anti-viral." "Success", therefore, can't be measured by virulence.
@drlynnchiu I love the idea but it's going to be a hard sell for institutions. On the other hand, it feels like individuals and small institutions would benefit a lot from it. It facilitates exposure to people that are sharing the same interests without being shadowed by big structures.

Large journals joining is already a good sign and helps a bit with the sale speech but it's a long road.
