Why is it that people automatically think if a respiratory virus is not very transmissible, it's _not_ transmitted through the air?

What's the connection between fewer cases and the immediate thought that they are touch-transmitted?

Actually asking. I have never understood this. Once you see they are in the air, the number of cases is irrelevant. Some are just more infectious some less.

@jmcrookston It was all based on a logical error made a long time ago and passed down as gospel through until 2020.
