To all of you who follow me, I sent you a private message about moving to @Lunatech and that you might want to follow me there. I liked .org at first but the limitations of the old version of they are running (they are still on v3.2.1) really started to bug me. @infosec.exchange lets you post fairly long toots (11000 characters), and it also has a way to show you which hashtags you are following, but it is running a much newer version of the Mastodon software (v4.1.0+glitch). I am not suggesting anyone else should move, or that I will never return to qoto if they figure out some way to keep the software updated, but with their current software I kept running into annoyances there INCLUDING the fact that it would not allow me to migrate my followers to the new instance (it keeps erroring out). So if you want to follow me on (at)Lunatech(at)infosec.exchange that's cool, if not that's cool too!

(And if you did not get a private message I apologize, I am pretty tired so may have mangled an address or something!)

I’m getting pretty tired of serving files on my #Mac mini. I hardly use that computer for anything else but serving up files and WebDAV on my local LAN, and between the twice-a-week panic reboots, the times it won’t recognize my Thunderbolt 10 GBps Ethernet adapter, and Bonjour failing between it and my MBP16, accessing my files is largely a crapshoot.

I have a strong feeling the Server components of #macOS just isn’t getting any attention any more. A miserable experience.

Funny how the simple act of updating packages in apt creates a level of fear. But then I remember that it’s not 2005, and Debian, and all Linux systems and pretty much all modern Operating Systems are incredibly robust. Upgrades are not just safe, but expected and required.

"Fox News is a right-wing talk channel that profits off Republican propaganda. This isn't an opinion. It is a fact laid bare via the hundreds of pages of legal documents in the Dominion lawsuit. And yet, credible newsrooms continue to describe the outlet as a "news" network. This does a disservice to readers ... Fox News' business model is not predicated on informing viewers. It's dependent on feeding them lies that validate their views"

Candidate pleads guilty in alleged Florida vote scam

By TERRY SPENCER
August 24, 2021

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — A sham candidate for the Florida Legislature pleaded guilty Tuesday to being part of a vote siphoning scheme in last year’s election and will testify against a former Republican state senator who prosecutors say ran it.

Alex Rodríguez agreed to testify against former Sen. Frank Artiles after pleading guilty in Miami-Dade County to accepting illegal campaign donations and lying on campaign documents. He will receive three years probation if he cooperates, including a year of house arrest. He had faced a possible 20-year prison sentence.

Prosecutors charged Artiles in March with felony campaign fraud charges, saying he secretly gave more than $44,000 to Rodriguez so that he could run in the 2020 election to confuse voters and siphon ballots from then-Democratic incumbent, Sen. Jose Javier Rodríguez. The funds allegedly came from a dark money...

Ugh- dow's gonna dow...
Tldr- they set up (another) phony recycling program. This time, they took in a bunch of donated shoes from Singapore that were supposed to be broken down and reused for tracks/playgrounds. Instead they ended going on a journey through 2nd hand stores in Indonesia and elsewhere, before (most likely) getting landfilled or burned when they couldn't be resold.
What an evil company.

Imagine an AGI that advises taxing billionaires at a rate of 95 percent and redistributing their wealth for the benefit of humanity.

Will it ever be hooked into the financial system to make that happen? No. Will those minding the AGI carry out those orders? Again, no 🧵
