A demographic wave is about to hit post-18 education; like all such waves it was easily foreseen):
now we need to sort out the malaise in universities, not merely double down on making HE a 'market';
we need to be much clearer about the value & role Further Education can (and should) play in equipping our young people of future life & work.
Of course, our political class will somehow be caught on the hop by the surge in 18 year olds because they are myopic.
The last thing the tory scum want is a well educated populace. Nobody who is educated and has finely honed critical thinking skills is going to vote for the bucket of venal shit that is the tory party!
