I stopped another line of traffic, which happened to be Alonso's male owner. I've never seen him in daylight and he was in a different car so I didn't recognise. Neither, apparently, did Alonso. I convinced Alonso to stop long enough for me to pick him up and get him off the road.

His owner parked up and came to collect him. He apologised again, and finally seemed to realise how dangerous it is having his dog running free on the road every day. He says he's going to lock him in the garage 😟

It would have been fine if the cars hadn't stopped. Alonso is smart enough not to get run over, but car drivers don't recognise dogs as pedestrians and (quite reasonably) stop. The danger is then that there are cars parked in the middle of the road.

Once the cars have stopped, Alonso will then wander around the parked cars, thinking that it's a great game.

He is starting to come when he's called, *iff* there aren't any major distractions. Earlier in the field he was fine, but with cars stopped in the road and people getting out to try and catch him is was just too much.

OMG! Alonso is here!

Haven't seen him for a week, as his owners apparently made good on their threat to lock him the garage.

But he's escaped (of course).

He's a bit fearty, but he's back!

We have missed him.

Previous Alonso thread was here:

I got a bit more of Alonso's backstory this evening from the female half of the couple that keep him.

She says they've had him since he was small, but he's a rescue dog and yes, he was abused. Took a long time for him to trust them. That explains the fearty behaviour: the way he used to sidle in rather than approach directly when we first met him, the fear of being hit (especially in the kitchen) etc. He's such an odd little doggy, but I've made it very clear he's welcome here anytime.

No Alonso today.

Tonight is the night the vege man comes in his little white van. He comes every fortnight.

Last time he was here, so was Alonso, who ran out, and before we could stop him, put his paws up on the step, shoved his head in the van and had a good sniff to check for illicit sausages. To his disappointment, there were none, but it's best to check these things.

Opened the door to go outside and chop wood. In strolled Alonso.

I didn't hear him bark, so he must have just arrived.

Will let his owners know. Soon. He needs pats first.

Alonso has managed to paste some text into vim and change it to reverse title case. 🐾 + ⌨️

I don't even know what the vim keys are to do that.
