Having actually lived through a civil war, Civil War (2024) is one of the most idiotic movies I've ever seen

@mejs I liked the movie. War is irrational, makes no sense. The difference between right and wrong, just and unjust is very blurry and often crossed by both sides. That's why I think that for the purpose of the movie it really doesn't matter who is on whose side, what are the motives. Only thing that is common is that everyone is trying to survive. That's why I didn't mind the story not having an explanation of the conflict.

@ProfT had the movie focused on civilians, it could have been much more successful in exploring the irrationality of war without providing explicit context to the conflict. Since we do follow journalists who are *seeking* conflict, we barely see anything of people just trying to survive. I can count only 4 scenes where we encounter civilians at all! Protest at the start, the refugee camp, refugees walking for 2 seconds, and the clothing store. Everything else is action with para(militaries)!
