They cut down the great oak that had stood on the property for longer then there had been houses on the street.

Because we wanted more sunlight, they said.

Because it cast such a large shadow, they said.

They could not answer, because they did not know why though the tree was gone, the great dark shadow was still cast upon the ground in the midday sun. ☀🌳
