There are many Democrat-leaning cities in single-party Republican states. Those cities are essentially being treated as captives, prisoners, never to be given even the slightest input into how their government operates.
You can love your neighbor, or you can support policies like that. You can't do both.
@swcollings experiencing the same thing here in a single party Democrat state blocking input from republican leaning cities and counties.
Not sure what to make of your reply, but here's the specific bill I was thinking about here in #Colorado, where the stare government is working to forcefully control zoning and occupancy laws in cities across the stare, taking control away from cities, counties, and homeowners associations.
This not only blocks non aligned regions from influencing the state government, it literally removes the right to influence what happens in their own backyards. (Yep, state will take over what can happen in backyards.)
I figure you have specific examples from #Republican controlled state legislators getting laws passed that remove local government rights and give them to the state, which will show this isn't an issue of just one political party.
