You know, I thought one of the points of Mastodon was leaving behind blue checks but I guess the #fedified list thinks we need that two tier system? This isn't as snarky as it sounds.

@War_Kittens I think there's a strong argument for equal access identity verification on any platform.
The stupid thing about Twitter "verification" is that it was selective and opaque. With Mastodon, there's no pretense that it confirms anything except that the person managing a give Mastodon account also manages a given website. That's realistic online identification. The only way it could be better would be to tie it into PGP (or similar) so a ring of trust can be established.
