Love it how everyone I follow or follows me is a scientist, a former scientist (once a scientist, always a scientist) or is interested in science. So far no media personalities, no politicians. And lacking promoted posts—ads or otherwise—the signal to noise ratio went through the roof. After all, “science is the only news”, as the saying goes.

@albertcardona I for one would welcome many of the more serious journalists and analysts. Twitter had for me become a rich source of news and insight well beyond science.

@BorisBarbour Agree, the additional discourse into science policy, or geopolitics, is interesting, but I find I consume that stream of news without participating. For me “the bird site” can become a curated, one-way RSS feed of news for occasional browsing. Doesn’t have to also be a public forum. What chance there is to discuss anything with someone that has tens or hundreds of thousands of followers? Imagine the volume of their notifications.
