People saying it's an echo chamber here. How? There's no algorithm. Either you work to populate your feeds with variety or you don't - either way, that's on you, not on the site.

An interest driven network does not have to be an echo chamber. Rather the opposite. Because you can follow and be followed from across the fediverse, the diversity and scale of it will not allow that kind of a situation in itself. However, what and whom an individual chooses to follow is another matter.
So an ecochamber is possible as much as an individual might choose or allow, not inevitable.
