Ukraine will now receive ammunition with depleted uranium from the U.S. A while ago I was on DW to discuss these munitions and the trade-offs they represent. @anderspuck There are similar health concerns with tungsten. Very heavy metals are generally toxic; the reason they're rejected here isn't health, it's that DU sounds like scary nuclear fuel.

@Alon @anderspuck Tungsten is actually not too too bad. But everyone knows about the health hazards of lead - and it's the main element in most bullets. Those are being fired off a heck of a lot more than kinetic penetrators containing either tungsten or DU.
