I'm happy to have reached the "optimize my scan rate" level for this code. I'm up to 250Hz, but there's room for more. May need to switch to 10- or 8-bit sampling ultimately, we'll see.
Assembled as much as I can until standoffs get here. Seems like the outer diameter of the standoffs will *just* work for these housings. Hope it all comes together.
@petejohanson put together a short history of ZMK article for KBDNews: https://kbd.news/ZMK-A-History-2222.html
I am just now hearing about GPU sharing in a kubernetes cluster using MetaGPU. “share one or more Nvidia GPUs between different K8s workloads”
Has anyone heard about it before, and have thoughts and or experiences with it? Does it work with consumer hardware?
@zephyr 3.5 is out! Read about the incredible amount of work that went into this release in the announcement post 👇
https://www.zephyrproject.org/introducing-zephyr-3-5/
@zephyr @zmk have made further progress on this, and have rebased my State Machine Framework refactor over the test PR baseline to be sure it works. That's also helped me discover missing tests, that I'm pulling forward into that PR as I go. This should help me have a robust suite *before* our upcoming potentially disruptive refactors and feature additions!
Merge a change to an #OSS project you lead that's taken hours and hours of effort, refactor PRs preceding it to be sure it's technically sound and can be built on for future work, and share the news on a few channels... Only to get a response of "about time" from someone. Sometimes #OpenSource work feels super rewarding... And sometimes it feels like an excuse to get crapped on. Sigh.
With https://github.com/zmkfirmware/zmk/pull/1841 merged, we now support split peripheral encoders fully on `main`!

Working on the Cirque Pinnacle @zmk driver started by crides, fixing some SPI issues, and adding ADC sensitivity setting needed for the curved overlay version to work properly:

@zmk mostly assembled, just need to figure out what offset washers/retainer clips to use with the solder nuts to secure the GlidePoint, then test.
Built the first 10u revxlp #MechanicalKeyboard prototype yesterday, with loads of soldering assistance from our elder daughter. She also did all the final assembly and keycap design! She described the look as "sunset over the water".
* 10u revxlp
* XIAO RP2040 running @zmk
* Choc whites
* MBK + Asymplex artisan convex 1u for the bottom row
Ok, so #BabbleSim integration in @zephyr is *really* cool. PR up for @zmk to add some BLE integration tests leveraging it, as preparation for the upcoming State Machine Framework refactor I have planned for that code: https://github.com/zmkfirmware/zmk/pull/1875
Demystifying Nixos: The Basic Flake
https://lhf.pt/posts/demystifying-nixos-basic-flake/
#nixos can often feel overwhelming, especially for newcomers to the operating system. Examples online are either too simple or complex with no clear path in between.
Just finished writing the first post of a four part opinionated series about crafting a complex yet comprehensible configuration.
It's my first time writing a #blog post, so I'm still finding my style. Feedback is appreciated.
Welcome new to Mastodon users! Two things to keep in mind as you explore around:
1. #Hashtags are king on Mastodon. You can follow them and use them to search for your favorite content. Frankly, following hashtags is the best way to get content into your home feed without having to follow a bunch of people.
2. If you need help, check out the tag #feditips or just ask someone who has been around or toot out your question with some appropriate tags.
Have fun and welcome!
Trying out #nixos on the #pinephone - that is some different experience. Awesome and definitely unique 😃
There is plenty to figure out and it's a bit overwhelming even to figure out where to start (maybe figuring out why the pine keyboard doesn't work on this install or why it asks to unlock the encrypted drive twice at boot)
