CW: Racism
I reblog a lot. But sometimes I treat my profile like it’s my own personal megaphone.
I put a content warning on this post because one of the things I talk about is racism.
For me it’s my daily life, not politic. So I’m asking you to vote in this poll - do I need to add a politics content warning?
Or is racism enough of a warning as long as I’m not specifically referencing the US two party system & its members?
@Tinu why sensor yourself? if people find you triggering it's their problem not yours. Live that distinction for people that have the #privilege to be to separate #race and #polotics. for those of us who live it in our skins, #liveexperience, we can't separate #socialjustice and #antiracism from #politics. Many may try and be apolitical but being apolitical menas helping the status quo that has ruled for ever and I'd we want changes we have to be the change. At least that is how I see it :p #powertothepeople

@CorryReilly @cangieperezr Yeah, I told a bit of my story in an earlier post. CW are fine for me as part of the culture here - but I also see the potential for abuse.
Now if I want to talk RACE vs RACISM then hell naw. I’m Black I’d have to cover my whole profile 🤣
@cangieperezr I don’t see it as censorship, I see it as care.
F me it’s respect for other people trauma. I get how some people use CW into a way to avoid needed convos. But I’m not looking to convert 🤷🏾♀️ not talking to them anyway.
Used to think content warnings were BS. I’m an assault survivor & got better BECAUSE of exposure to content I’d normally avoid.
But then I got PTSD.
And certain things throw me into flashbacks and/or nightmares from when I try to suppress things.
@Tinu I totally understand and agree with you and I see it the same way I guess, I am more like if someone doesn't like me the action is on their side for them to block me. This way I can continue speaking my true being myself and not hurting anyone in my eyes but if someone is getting offended or hurt by it then they can always block me the way I see it is u will never please anyone in this world so what I can do beat is be true to myself, be honest, be a good human being and both know that when u are at peace with your choices then that is all good :) I am sorry about your experience and #PTSD I totally agree how some spaces can be completely triggering and toxic and I think that is why I like this thing cause it is greater by the people and the server they join so as long as u know u are in a like minded server of people u can fit in then don't need to watch Ur back if not migrate to another server :) u don't know anyone anything just be u #sister and I will definitely check out your content

@cangieperezr @Tinu I think it’s important as we all move over to this new platform we respect the fact that adding content warnings is very normal here, not just for trigger warnings but to ensure people can opt in or out as to what they see on their timelines as there’s no algorithm here. I’ve seen CWs on cat photos so people don’t just see a stream of cats (not that that would be a bad thing for me)
