I DON'T WANT SELF DRIVING CARS!!!!

✔️ I want boring things like public transit that comes so regularly I don't need to check a schedule.

✔️ I want fast passenger rail so accessible and easy it's preferable to suffering airports.

✔️ I want cities that aren't built around cars-as-default

✔️ I want the country to own it.

We are hiring! 19 funded positions for postdocs & PhD students in reinforcement learning, probabilistic methods, simulator-based inference, privacy and federated learning, and multi-agent learning. Apply by Jan 15 (postdoc) / Jan 29 (PhD) at fcai.fi/we-are-hiring

Thanks to CZI funding, we will soon have a Research Software Engineer (#RSE) position at the UCL Sainsbury Wellcome Centre to work on #BrainGlobe (github.com/brainglobe) and develop #napari plugins.

The post will be based in my RSE team and collaborate with the UCL Centre for Advanced Research Computing.

Happy to chat informally to anyone interested.

Official advert will follow soon. The salary will be UCL Grade 8 (£47k+) for a fixed term of two years in the first instance.

Dear friends,

I have a "Programming with Julia" course on Udemy. I plan to publish Julia for DS and ML courses next year.

I use all my monthly promotion limit to give away free coupons.

Current free link is below and I will share new ones along the way.

I'd be very happy if you could share this with those who would be interested.

And all your feedback is more than welcome.

Hi - as my #Introduction:

I've a maths PhD in differential geometry, and recently did the fantastic Machine Learning MSc at #UCL. I'm now looking for an ML job - preferably R&D. Interests include graphs, probabilistic ML and NLP.

Great timing on the job hunt, I know!

Now Chris Williams is presenting a principled probabilistic way to train #capsule networks (originally by @geoffreyhinton
) as generative models.

A variational approach to train generative part-based generative models.

RT @MilesCranmer
PyTorch-style deep learning in Julia!

As a longterm PyTorch user I am really happy to see this is possible in @FluxML.

The key advantage is that Julia *itself* is autodiff-ready, so you can compute gradients through a complex library without needing a rewrite in a DL framework.

The post holder will work with
Antonio Vergari (@nolovedeeplearning), Edoardo Ponti (@PontiEdoardo@twitter.com), and yours truly and become part of the thriving work environment of the Edinburgh Laboratory for Integrated Artificial Intelligence (ELIAI, web.inf.ed.ac.uk/eliai) at the School of Informatics (@InfAtEd@twitter.com), jointly with the Institute for Language, Cognition and Computation (ILCC), the Institute for Adaptive and Neural Computation (IANC) and Edinburgh NLP (edinburghnlp.inf.ed.ac.uk/)!

Hi everyone. I’m Jess, a materials scientist working on next-generation optical and electronic devices. I spend all my free time trying to make science more inclusive. For the last four years I’ve spent every evening writing the Wikipedia biographies of scientists from historically excluded groups. I’m nearly at 1800!! #WomenInSTEM
