@gwensnyder clearly Republicans no longer have any authentic libertarians left if they are bringing back censorship boards. The MAGA are so freaking bossy! It's going to be their downfall. #ConservativesReallyAreThatBad #ConservativesRuinEverything

@timo21 @gwensnyder Even libertarians "censor" – i.e. have strong opinions about for example what their kids read.

It's just a question of process.

To that end: Chatgpt makes me concerned. Is it making bad decisions I wonder? I don't know.

@ech @timo21 @gwensnyder It is making bad decisions. The source Ars linked to mentions a teacher trying it with a few dozen books he used in class and knew very well, and at least one of them made the wrong call. Why they continued believing it after that, I don't know, but I assume it's because they don't understand the technology and are desperate for some solution that doesn't require reading every book in their library.

@danherbert @ech @gwensnyder The people making the rules do need to read every book they want to ban.

@timo21 @ech @gwensnyder The unfortunate thing is: the people making the rules left the "which books do we ban?" question up to people working in the school district. Some in the schools might like the new rule but I imagine a lot of them don't, but could lose their jobs if they don't comply. Not everyone has the ability to resign in protest. They're just trying to get into compliance quickly so they have time to do their actual jobs.
