@erictopol Do we think nasal vaccines will be effective against transmission, instead of "only" being effective against severe illness?

@canleaf @ech otoh, one could also say that as a result of the pharmaceutical interventions we currently have -- which are largely ineffectual against the worst effects of sarscov2 infection -- the majority of folk have been tricked into letting their guard down and accepting drastic reductions in their health and well-being. So the question is: if we didn't have these token "tools", would the majority of folks still be doing at least some of the simple things we collectively did in 2020 that made the world much safer for everyone and would *far* fewer people have gotten sicker and disabled as a result?

@trendless @canleaf I don't understand what you're saying. Vaccines are pretty effective against the worst effects of sarscov2, ie death.

@ech @erictopol yes, there's some reason to think nasal vaccines will retard transmission. I did a bit of a review of this in a thread a few weeks ago if you want links to details: infosec.exchange/@ozdreaming/1
