I try not to talk about #ukpol too much, but this is important - theguardian.com/world/2024/apr - I am forever shocked by the number of British people who do not know what the law of England & Wales actually says about abortion.

Abortion is currently *not* a legal right in E&W, and the current "nod & a wink" system would be far, far too easy for a future anti-abortion government to issue guidelines to "tighten up" provision. 1/

In addition, do not think that is a purely hypothetical. The late, unlamented government of Liz Truss had a majority anti-abortion Cabinet, for the first time in decades. They could easily have done just that, had they not been a mayfly.

If you're a #UK voter then please write to your MP and ask them to support Stella Creasy's amendment if it is selected when the Bill comes up. (It will be a Free Vote so your MP's party, and your own political leanings do not matter on this issue) /2

Also Sir John Hays, cheerleader of the Tory right & that Common Sense Group + SPUC supporter. CSG’s Edward Leigh probably on the same bandwagon.
