People are understandably making fun of the debacle that is the #SpeakerOfTheHouse election but I have a bad feeling about where things will end. Which I think will be McCarthy caving in to many/most of the demands the GOP holdouts are making. This can only be a bad thing. For example Matt Gaetz is demanding the chairmanship of the Armed Services subcommittee. If that clown gets it this will be VERY bad news for many reasons. Chief among them: Gaetz will torpedo aid for #ukraine .
@herid sadly, i think I agree. The house is going to gridlock everything for the next two years. It's going to be a clown show with the speaker as the ringmaster.
@herid -- Yeah, then of course there's the fact that it's all a pretty clear snapshot of the kind of governing they'll do in all matters, which is to say NOT govern. They just want to burn it all down. It will never make any sense to me why people who don't believe in government turn around and try to hold positions... in government.
I'm not Catholic, so you don't see me running for Pope. And not just because I'd look like shit in the white dress.
just as I was saying: McCarthy is making concessions to the far righters tryting to get their votes to become #SpeakerOfTheHouse including offering them commitee slots. this isn't going to end well.
