Since quite a few people I know (relatives and friends) work in media and healthcare I did end up having a thought or two about how these industries compare.

And I think it's interesting that one of the most profitable sectors in the modern economy, software, seems to be as dispiriting as the most underfunded and overworked: healthcare, media, and education. That software and healthcare or a newsroom burn through their people's psyches at a similar rate is kind of mind-boggling.
