30y ago, i attended a family wedding where the bride was very offended by my sorta low cut dress. her sibs told me she felt upstaged & was kvetching about it 9y later.
i looked amazing. this was also not the most revealing dress there, by a long shot.
at this weekend’s wedding, she is now the mother of the bride.
i still have & can fit into the ‘92 dress. if i am careful w the aged fabric.
so, tonight, i have my 2 choices laid out. and i have to choose between petty & relative comfort.
the bride does not care (i could never upstage her, she is the sun! or, for that matter, her mom!) & she has heard the snippy comments. when we were going through my closet, she said “oh, i heard about this. it would be a nice tradition, i could tell her how touching it is to have you wear the same thing for 2 generations,” w an earnest expression
@vathpela @ptarnation Can I just say that I *love* your display name? Well played! (Also, if you're on the better.boston instance because you're in the Greater Boston area: Hi, neighbor.)
