In my opinion, criticisms of mastodon being unusable by the general public are over blown.
Despite a temporary increase in annual coal use in 2021 .. solar is up 26% and wind +12% year-over-year, offsetting a decrease in hydro (water supplies are a problem!)
Over the decade, solar +636% and wind +215%
