Saw several messages like this in the last few days. I don't understand it either. To me, a voice is always preferable to a txt msg.
@cautionarytale @jake_snowflake personal preference … I’m not a fan of talking on the phone for any extended period of time (I have to do it for work, and would rather not in my personal life). so if it’s something menial and every day, just text me. Important, time-sensitive or someone in need? Sure. Call me. I guess lol.

As a phone-phone, I'd much prefer a text or email that I can read at my convenience rather than the demanding loud disruption of a phone ringing at random times. Besides, then there's a written record.
