Stein's Gate is wrong. The solution to time travel paradoxes is not a secondary timestream where some sort of canonical observer moves between and ultimately chooses a timeline to canonicalize.

Harry Potter and the Methods Of Rationality has it right, any time-traveling causation must be perfectly self-causing such that no observed facts about the world can be changed by time-travel.
