Does anyone have any research software engineering (#RSEng) or #SciComp related graphics that can be used as stickers or general promotional material? (not tied to any one organization, CC-BY or better)
#HPC #OpenScience #ComputationalScience

Attached are some drafts I did a while ago following the tools metaphor, but I'm definitely not good at this...

OK, not many replies on the #RSEng or #SciComp related graphics / stickers. Any ideas then to improve my drafts, and is it worth doing so? See up thread for ideas ^.

I welcome ideas for text, graphics, colors, etc.

@rkdarst I'm curious about the purpose of these images. What is your use case? Like good software engineering, requirements collection and user stories are the starting point 😜

I like the one best because I identify with it more personally. It is also very similar to the motto: Better Software. Better Science.

I'm not a graphic designer, but thoughts for improvement: colours from a suitable colour scheme, select a more unique font, callipers are for measurement so it feels like the analogy of "if you have better tools you can build better things" gets a bit confused. Similar for the sledgehammer. Which I guess is why one usually sees regular hammers and screwdrivers all over software engineering stuff :blobshrug:

@mattasdata My goal is some light stickers or other material to give out to people so they can show their support of #RSEng/#SciComp, the people who do it, and build interest in these careers.

I'll see what I can do. Good point about the sledgehammer. For calipers: I actually think that careful measurement tools were a prerequisite for many things in our modern world! But yeah, I'd like a better variety...
