Still thinking about the Artemis launch. Thrilling. But I started to wonder how a pure science project somehow managed to survive the Trump years. The only possibility I can think of is that somebody told the big cluck he'd be able to have his name on the side of the rocket, or sell the naming rights to the Saudis and pocket the cash.

Probably only because he put Pence in charge of space and his committee came up with calling it Artemis and deciding SLS missions would be Moon-first, not Mars-direct. Trump thought it could go before the end of his first term. And asked if people could be on this first test. So "Artemis" was part of his administration, despite him bring so clueless about it.

@mcmxs Asking if NASA could put people on the launch to find out if the thing is safe for people would be very on-brand for him.
