‘Britain’s former growth model, dependent on unsustainable credit growth & inward investment associated with the UK being the best site to export into the EU, has collapsed. Babble about exploiting #brexit opportunities is just babble: trade is shrinking, with it private investment. There is no plan, no vision, no strategy, no institutional architecture that might offer better’ theguardian.com/commentisfree/

Brexit

So, according to the Times 'Britain mulls Swiss-style ties with Brussels'. Has nobody told the Tories that the EU does not want a 'Swiss-style' deal? And with the ERG threatening to bring the government down over any such deal, there is no point in the EU negotiating one.

Huge elephant in the room is #Brexit. Hunt didn't once mention how it's contributed to 4% productivity drop, 15% trade drop, 6% food price increase, lower wages, workforce shortages & highest inflation in G7. Why won't Govt call it out? #AutumnStatement

@michael_h I am more annoyed by Joe Blogs comments on this (either that they are made or are amplified). There can be real issues, but false comparisons are both unhelpful, and insulting

Interesting comparison of health care waiting list numbers across Europe from the FT. Personally I was looking at Ireland vs Sweden.

Brexit & cheese

“still feel very let down and bitterly disappointed by the fact I’ve had so many conversations with …government ministers and nothing happens.

“They are impotent because of their #Brexit policy. They are so anti-Europe they won’t even discuss getting a better deal sorted out. Getting access to the single market has to be the first step.”

This week in Brexit

So far this week:

- Former member of the Bank of England’s monetary committee Michael Saunders told Bloomberg: “without Brexit, we wouldn’t be talking about austerity this week”
- Paris stock market overtook London’s for the first time
- George Eustice admitted post-Brexit Australia and New Zealand trade deals are bad for the UK
- Post-Brexit quality assurance mark delayed again

It’s TUESDAY. #UKpolitics #Brexit
