Google AI chatbot Bard offers inaccurate information in company ad // We are now entering the era of AI chatbot wars (and accompanying hype) and it's clear firms are pushing out product quickly in the hope of not being left behind. There are many aspects to this tech that will likely be positive -- and it is also likely to create whole new realms of regulatory and political concerns -- and concerns by websites about potentially being sidelined by these kinds of interactions.

Google has been moving relatively deliberately out of concerns regarding accuracy -- which is potentially the Achilles heel of these systems: authoritative "answers" that are wrong. So there is some irony in that this Google ad reportedly gave a wrong answer that could have been easily manually checked before being published. -L

(*) variants of this barb will be tossed Google's way for the next two years, at least. ;)
