... but...

There's something about computation that rewards deep, obsessive knowledge of arbitrary nonsense and a love of comprehending the pattern for the pattern's sake alone.

@mtomczak yeah, absolutely

it's super stimulating and rewarding for the ADHD brain, so there's a self-selection effect where people who are rewarded by that kind of thing are drawn deeper into it and then particularly inclined to be good at it

also since I work in ops/SRE there's the added perk of the job having constant stuff going on, which is great for always having something urgent to do, and rewarding people who work well under high pressure situations, which is another ADHD thing
