All these GOP no-hope candidates have the same problem, the same one they had in 2016.

They need to attack Trump, but they won’t because they want his base. They’re afraid of going hard against him.

So they mewl around aimlessly like weak gormless dorks, with nothing to talk about but policy, which they’re bad at & GOP voters don’t care about anyway.

Trump doesn’t have to give a fuck so he calls them names & the media giggles adoringly. They’ve got nothing but hate, & he does that better.

@catvalente
I really suspect that most of them are hoping he'll be whisked off to jail and that then, so long as they haven't offended him and his following, they can slide into the nomination as a second place option.

@VerinEmpire @catvalente Him being whisked off to jail doesn't actually make it impossible for him to be elected president.

There's nothing in the Constitution that immediately prevents the voters from electing someone currently incarcerated, and the US's political tradition (our first President was a seditionist who led a military uprising to wrest control of the Colonies from the legitimate government and duly-elected representatives in London) would suggest that we'd be hard-pressed to morally justify denying him office if the people called him to take it.
