#introduction Hi there! I'm new, looking for my niche! I'm an #environmental #science #undergraduate and #gis user starting the transition from student to professional. I spend a lot of time in #nature looking for #mushrooms and petting the #moss. When I'm home for the day, #crafts take over my life. I love #quilting, garment #sewing, #crocheting, and #furniture #restoration along with ample #cooking and #gardening. Where are my people at?
@mycologistmaybe What's up? Have you done any upholstery sewing?
@sraznoff not yet. Simple things like dining room chairs and foot stools, sure, but somehow doing anything more technical always seemed a bit overwhelming. I'm sure it's easier than I'm making it in my mind. What about you?
@mycologistmaybe I’m trying to make a yurt. Sewing the cover is so far the hardest part. Anyway clicked your profile cuz I’m a gis guy and think that’s cool you are getting into it.
@sraznoff oh my goodness, that sounds like a lot of fabric wrestling! I have a hard time getting bed size quilts under my machine, I can't imagine constructing a whole yurt. Is it going well?
I'm actually working on an abstract for a GIS related conference application right now. 😅 Have you found the GIS folks on here yet? I could use more maps in my life.
@sraznoff I made a guided tour for a public art installation earlier this year. My advisor wants to present it at a regional conference highlighting GIS stuff. You know the science fairs we did as kids with tri-fold posters? It's basically the adult version of that. I'll keep my fingers crossed for your yurt project, and you keep yours crossed for my presentation. 😊
