I’m 8 episodes into Foundation now. Yup. It’s absolutely a yup. Wish I hadn’t kept putting it off now.

Also wish I’d read the books too.

@davep The books are classic. The series is good but completely deviates from the books in so many ways. It's still good but...it's not *really* "Foundation" in a sense. Sort of in a peripheral way for the most part.

@natharari I may have to do the books because I’m liking the themes and ideas in the show.

@davep Well, the books are great but very, very, 1950s. I mean, to a T. You have guys in "futuristic offices" still smoking cigarettes, talking with 1950s lingo...you can sort of just imagine them patting the secretary on the butt and asking for another scotch. It's very dated. But the concepts are still amazing.

@natharari Hah! I can imagine. About a year back I revisited (in audio form this time) some Clarke and also some Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven stuff I enjoyed in my teens and HOLY SHIT the casual sexism I was unable to identify back in the 80s! 😬

@davep I know what you mean. I was born in 1970 so I grew up with it around me everywhere.

It's also very funny how everyone is drinking a scotch in the office. And yes, I remember people smoking in some elevators. They used to actually have ashtrays. 🤣

@natharari I've got 3 years on you kid, I used to smoke 20 a day in the office, and another 20 a day, half before work and half after. ;-P

Seriously though (none of that's a lie mind)... yeah, I look back and cringe!

@natharari Never scotch though... I guess that was how we were more enlightened then. 🤷🏻‍♀️
