When you write a No Starch Press book you have three choices of software: Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer, or LaTeX. The book I'm writing is cross-platform (you can follow along if you're running Windows, macOS, or Linux), so I opted for LibreOffice, allowing me to write from any OS.

But omg LibreOffice bugs are so frustrating. I can handle the clunkyness but I wish it wasn't constantly crashing. In particular, the latest version of LibreOffice Writer on macOS Ventura, on Apple Silicon Mac, crashes multiple times a day. If I open two LibreOffice docs at the same time and try switching between the two, it crashes and I have to force quite the whole thing and hope I didn't lose too much work. It's like trying to write a paper in 2002.

@micahflee In 2002 wrote my papers in LaTeX or HTML; didn't crash.
