I'm still laughing at the shouty person who scolded me for "arrogantly" referring to people who read what I write as "my readers". Personally, I think that sounds a lot less pretentious than calling them "my followers".
I get that some people will go out of their way to dissect every facet of every word in the least charitable way possible. But I respect my readers too much to write defensively against those who want to be hypercritical. And I don't think affecting an exaggerated fake humility, as if I think no one could possibly be interested in anything I have to say, serves anyone.
@mattblaze i generally dislike our tendency to refer to so many things as "my" as well. so i kinda get their point. people who follow/read my work puts a no possession on the people subject. but yeah, thats just how we talk and it's kinda gross
