Here’s a #mastodon #etiquette question from a new user:
Given the emphasis on #accessibility, what is the preferred way of sharing #code snippets? On the old site I would have used a screenshot or a generated image.
I could also paste raw #python code into a post. I saw there was some discussion on the Mastodon GitHub about introducing code formatting, but it sounded like that wasn’t going to happen anytime soon.
What do people who have been here longer prefer?
@Dwflanagan also, the instance I’m on has markdown as an option for writing toots, which although not as good as full syntax formatting, is good enough to create a simple code block. Unfortunately at the moment I think it’s one if the few and only those on the same server see the markdown version, everyone else sees plain text
