Ugh. Tennessee's "reopen" plan came out, and it's awful. It looks like all the major cities are still going to be locked down. So I guess I'll have to go to a different county to get my glasses, or the dental work I desperately need, or...

Still no hope, no light at the end of the tunnel. I wonder how many suicides are going to be counted as coronavirus deaths.

@mikey
If they're obviously suicide, they'd be listed on the death certificate a such.
What DOES happen is people die from leukemia, for instance, and the death certificate lists cause of death as COVID-19 (or probable COVID, depending on jurisdiction). Happens all the time when there's a lethal co-morbidity.

@sda Oh, I know that the deaths are being overcounted, sometimes by a huge margin, but they wouldn't go *that* far to pad the numbers. I was being flippant.

I fully believe the number of people in the US who'll die from being forced into lockdown will outnumber the actual deaths from the virus. (If I'm one of them, it will likely be because of depression, for example.)

Absolutely!

CDC count for flu/pneumonia deaths this flu season: 83,780.

Number of deaths from COVID-19: 24,555

Number from vitamin D (sunlight) deficiency: uncounted
Number from depression: uncounted
Number from lockdown-induced poverty: uncounted
Number from deferred doctor visits: uncounted.

etc.
