Had a frustrating day with Matrix.
Anyway, back on my default profile. Was hoping I could register elsewhere and decrease the load on matrix.org.
Oh well...

@fatboy Are you on matrix.org?
You can use privacytools matrix hosting server......

@thunderdragon900 I kept my default matrix acc. Tried tchncs and privacytools.

@fatboy @thunderdragon900 why couldn’t you switch? I’m curious to try hosting my own, but hear that it’s quite resource intensive.

@exstral @thunderdragon900 I had trouble chatting to other users on other servers.
Matrix is decentralized, but I think most of its users are on the official server, so decentralization is still in its infancy?
Anyway, the issue was that the encryption exchange didn't happen, so I could not read received messages.

@fatboy @thunderdragon900 ah yeah the encryption part seems to be tricky. I’m hoping to host it myself using their new go server dendrite one day but it still lacks cross signing support for the encryption. Hopefully soon tho :)

@fatboy @thunderdragon900
Ah no, I'm assuming that is much easier? 🤔

But matrix just looks... cooler? 😅

And the element.io client being support across all platforms with similar UI is a big bonus too.

@fatboy @exstral
It happened with me also. But then i saw a setting like send messages to unverified sessions. I turned it off and everything got fine. Its verification is a little confusing. Matrix is my 2nd decentralized thing. I have not used xmpp still.........
