@ThatcherUlrich There are many problems with fission power plants. One of the bigger ones is that they are so big and therefore slow to build that regulations often change during their construction, forcing rework. I don't think the cost of increased quantities of materials etc. would outweigh avoiding that

Re long build latency, it could also point toward not developing new SMNR designs (which is taking forever) and instead repeating previous builds
